'Sports' a necessity
Education with sports makes a child a complete individual. He/she is able to understand their potential, abilities, talents and where they will fit in the future. Success in sports makes them feel valued.
With
the internet making inroads into everyone’s lives even children are not spared.
Instead of going out to play with friends they prefer sitting at home, online
playing games on the computer and mobile phones. This trend is also seen with
adults who from a hard day’s work choose a corner and go online. They barely
talk with their spouses, parents and children.
Before
internet made such drastic inroads into our lives, people would step out after
dinner, go for walks, talk to friends, family, strangers living close by. Many
went for vigorous walks, or runs. Early mornings started with fresh walks, runs, visit to the nearby
gardens, playing softball, volleyball, badminton, yoga, running, or just
relaxing under the shades of trees and chatting and laughing.
People
are now taking to sports only when confronted with medical situation like
diabetes, blood pressure, loss of muscle movement, anxiety, depression, obesity,
anemia, posture problems, arthritis, stomach ailments and list goes on.
Everything the body does requires movement and we are all stuck in jobs that
require sitting at a table for 9 to 10 hours daily.
Sports are the answer to all the above problems. Get up from the
table, leave aside the mobiles – switch off from the digital world, get out of
the house, walk, run, do yoga, breathe good air, give your body to relax, make
amends, repair the damage caused by the ‘sitting lifestyle’ we have acquired
over the years.
Get your family together and interested in a sport that you play
together, get your friends to join you, go to the gym but do not overdo it,
create a club get the neighbors to join in – laugh, yoga, share life’s
anecdotes. Trust your body that your sporty activity will make great changes in
your life that you need to succeed in at home and at work.
